Yoooooo! First blog. LFG!
So I typically crochet literally every day, but have not been this summer. So let's unpack that...
UHHH
Depression got me, homies. I literally don't think I would have been able to push myself to get a single thing done if it weren't for the Crafty Coop project and if it weren't for Mick. Period. Left to my own devices, I'd just rot.
Now that being said, I have been able to complete a few things since the big D fucked me hard... and I do think that once I get my self care back in line and establish a new creative routine, I'll be back in the swing of things creatively. So what have I finished lately?
-Plenty of kerchiefs for myself, friends, and my fabulous Aunt who is working through chemo rn.
This was what got me started when I was at a standstill for a minute. All you have to do is pick your colors and go. They work up quick. You get the satisfaction of a finished piece. All good.
-Hamtaro tapestry for Mick

This was a big one for me and I was legit just motivated by wanting to make something special for someone I love so much. The tapestry is of Harmony from the Gameboy Advance game Ham Ham Heartbreak.
-Stardew tapestry for Peebs

So right after that project my sweet P's bday was coming up and I have wanted to make them a tapestry for their apartment for a while. I couldn't think of anything more PamPilled than the coffee cup from Stardew and honestly this was also fully motivated by love.
-Sun over ocean tapestry for my Mom

So this is my latest completed project... A birthday gift for my Mom also completely fueled by love! It's a tapestry of the sun reflecting off of the ocean. It's also the first tapestry I've made for my Mom... many more to come I'm sure!
So I completed that project the other week and have hardly crocheted since. I'm still really struggling to get back into the swing of things... But usually I come alive in the fall, so I'm hoping this slump is almost over. Like I said..... I really need to like... get my self care game together and also get a creative routine going. And then I think I will be fine I hope.
As of right now, let's discuss September.
The word of the month is DICHOTOMY, bros.
-helplessness
-horror
-overwhelm
-extreme sadness
-hopelessness
-stagnation
-love
-gratitude
-solidarity
-mutual support
-reckless optimism
-exploration
Here is a current WIP... I'm perfecting the grid art currently.
This is a gift for a bestie's bday, so it's very spesh.
SEPTEMBER MOOD MEMES:

And most importantly... What have I been listening to this month?
-Don't Tap The Glass
-Gemini Rights
-Kiss me, Kiss me, Kiss me
So that's what's up this month.
As for the future, I'm looking forward to October. I just want to enjoy fall weather, be with the people I adore, drink lots of seasonal coffee drinks, get back into creating, and VIBE.
I have two bdays to make gifts for in October and that will keep me busy, but I'm also hoping to get maybe one or two fun seasonal projects done. TBD.
I'd say that for the future, the things that are inspiring me most currently are love and exploration. LFG.
